Crowd control posts turn a busy entrance or counter into an orderly line. This collection features the Winco stanchion post with a retractable 6.5 ft belt – a 34" black post for host stands, order counters, buffets, coffee bars and event check-in.

What to consider when choosing crowd control posts

  • Line length – each 6.5 ft belt spans one gap, so count gaps (not posts) when planning a queue.
  • Layout – a switchback queue needs more posts but fits a long line into a small lobby.
  • Base stability – check that posts stand firmly on your floor surface, especially near doors and on mats.
  • Storage – retractable belts keep the post tidy when the line isn't needed.

How many stanchions do I need?

One more than the number of belt spans. A straight 13 ft line, for example, needs three posts.

Can I use stanchions outside?

They can be used outdoors for short periods, such as a patio waitlist, but should be brought in after service.

Where are stanchions most useful?

At host stands, counter-service order points, buffets and anywhere guests need to queue in a set direction.
