Russell Food Equipment History

June 12, 1944, a Vancouver restaurant dealer opened its doors for the first time to deliver a brand new Blakeslee potato peeler. 

More than 70 years later, Russell still employs knowledgeable sales representatives who are serving customers with the promise: “If it’s Russell supplied, you can depend on it.”

With 14 showrooms coast to coast, Russell Food Equipment earned the reputation of being one of Canada’s national leaders in foodservice equipment and supplies. 

Built on the philosophy set by Founder, Ken Russell; “To prosper as a business, we must always place our customers’ best interests first, focusing on quality products and superb after sales service to deliver the best overall value.”

On August 2015, the Russell Family stepped away from the business. Leaving the existing management team and staff to work with a new owners, Blue Point Capital Partners. Charley Geiger, a VP with Blue Point, said, “As Russell’s first institutional investor, Blue Point’s operational and strategic approach will contribute to the company’s growth and development, while preserving its distinctive culture and history of leadership in Canada. Working with Russell’s experienced management team, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute our resources to a strong industry leader.”

Hendrix Foodservice History

Founded in 1981 in Brockville, Ontario, where our company head office remains today. From its inception, Hendrix expanded to include nine locations nationwide. Earning a reputation as one of the leading foodservice suppliers in Canada.

Condon Barr

Condon Barr Food Equipment Ltd. was established in 1979 in Edmonton, Alberta. Condon Barr was well known in western Canada for their superior equipment selection and service. In 2002, Condon Barr acquired their second location in Abbotsford, British Columbia. This location allowed them to dramatically increase their presence in the flourishing BC market.

Hendrix + Condon Barr - 2008

Hendrix and Condon Barr merged in January 2008 and operated as Hendrix throughout most regions in Canada. Both companies were committed to providing the highest level of national service to its customers.

Longo

Longo Food Service Equipment Inc. opened their doors more than three decades ago, in the busy city of London, Ontario. Frank Longo founded the company with his late father Cosmo on three basic principles: customer service, timeliness, and quality. As a result, Longo became a leading national supplier with a network of customers spanning coast to coast.

Hendrix + Longo - 2011

On April 1st 2011, Hendrix and Longo completed a merger that greatly improved service to customers across Canada. Longo brought to Hendrix a very strong reputation of delivering superior customer service. With a partner in Longo, Hendrix was able to meet the equipment and supply needs of it's existing customer base.
