Every kitchen needs the right sinks in the right places – compartment sinks for warewashing, hand sinks at each station, and prep or bar sinks where food and drinks are handled. Brands include Tarrison, Vollrath, EFI, Quest, Crown Verity, T&S, Browne and Thorinox. Find faucets and sprayers alongside these sinks on the Sinks, Faucets & Sprayers page.

Types of sinks and sink accessories

  • Drop-in sinks – Vollrath single-bowl sinks that set into a counter or worktable.
  • Portable handwashing sinks – Crown Verity units with fresh and waste water tanks for events, food trucks and temporary setups, in hot-and-cold or cold-only versions.
  • Eye wash stations – wall-mount and portable units from BIOS, WASIP and T&S for chemical areas.
  • Dipper wells and glass fillers – T&S dipper well faucets for scoops and pedestal glass filler stations for bars and service areas.
  • Sink accessories – Browne overflow tubes for 1.5" drains and Thorinox stainless baskets for soiled dishes.

What to consider when choosing a commercial sink

  • Number of compartments – manual warewashing typically uses three compartments (wash, rinse, sanitize); prep and utility areas may need only one or two. Check your local health requirements.
  • Bowl size and depth – choose bowls that fit your largest pans and sheet trays; 18" x 18" and 21" x 18" bowls with 13"–14" depth are common.
  • Drainboards and drain position – drainboards give soiled and clean landing space; match left, right or dual boards to your dish flow.
  • Faucet included or separate – many compartment sinks need a faucet bought separately; check the faucet centres (often 8") before ordering.
  • Plumbing access – portable handwashing units need only power, not plumbing, which suits events and mobile kitchens.

FAQ

Do compartment sinks come with a faucet?

Not always. Check the product title – some hand sinks include a faucet, while most compartment sinks need one ordered separately.

What is the difference between a corner drain and centre drain sink?

It refers to where the drain sits in each bowl. Corner drains keep the bowl floor clear for soaking large items; centre drains are common on general-purpose sinks.

When do I need a portable handwashing sink?

At events, markets, food trucks or temporary service points where there is no plumbed hand sink. Units with fresh and waste tanks only need a power outlet for hot water.

What is a dipper well?

A small sink with constant running water that holds ice cream scoops and utensils between uses at dessert and coffee stations.
