Beverage pitchers for restaurants, bars and catering

This collection covers the pitchers used for table water, draught beer, iced tea and juice service – clear plastic Camwear and Versapour pitchers, glass beer and litre pitchers, and stainless steel water pitchers with ice guards. Brands include Cambro, Carlisle, Browne, Service Ideas, Libbey, Arcoroc, Vollrath and Globe.

It sits within Bar Supplies, alongside the scoops, mats and serving tools that keep a beverage station moving. Most operators run two styles: a durable plastic pitcher for high-turnover bar and patio service, and a glass or stainless pitcher for the dining room.

Types of beverage pitchers

  • Plastic pitchers – Cambro Camwear, Carlisle Versapour and Globe polycarbonate pitchers in 32 to 64 oz sizes; light, break-resistant and suited to beer and patio service.
  • Glass pitchers – Libbey beer and litre pitchers and Arcoroc pitchers with pour lips for a classic look on the table or at the bar.
  • Stainless steel water pitchers – Browne, Service Ideas, Vollrath and Libbey bell, slim and gadroon-base pitchers, many with an ice guard to hold back cubes while pouring.
  • Pitchers with a centre core – TableCraft's 2 Qt pitcher with a centre core that holds ice apart from the drink so it chills without diluting.
  • Lidded and insulated pitchers – Cambro Camwear and Camview pitchers with lids, a Service Ideas sculptured pitcher with lid, and Aladdin Temp-Rite insulated pitchers for healthcare and tray service.
  • Small glass and ceramic pitchers – Zenan 1 L glass pitchers and a BIA 17 oz white pitcher for table water, wine or milk service.

What to consider when choosing pitchers

  • Material – Polycarbonate and SAN plastic resist breakage behind the bar; glass shows off beer and sangria; stainless steel is unbreakable and suits upscale table service.
  • Capacity – Match size to the pour: 32–48 oz for two to four guests, 60–64 oz for shared beer and table water, 2–3 L for banquet and buffet stations.
  • Ice guard or centre core – An ice guard keeps cubes from splashing into the glass; a centre core chills without watering the drink down.
  • Lids – Lidded pitchers protect contents at self-serve stations and in patient or room service.
  • Stacking and washing – Check that the pitcher fits your dish racks and stacks or nests for storage during off-peak hours.
  • Handle and pour spout – A molded handle and defined spout make pouring easier for servers carrying a full tray.

Frequently asked questions

What size pitcher is standard for beer service?

Sixty to 64 oz pitchers are the common choice for shared beer in pubs and on patios; Libbey, Cambro and Carlisle all offer this size in the collection.

Are plastic pitchers dishwasher safe?

Check each product page for the manufacturer's washing and temperature guidance. Commercial plastic pitchers such as Cambro Camwear and Carlisle Versapour are built for repeated washing in foodservice, but limits vary by material.

What does an ice guard do?

It is a lip or insert at the spout that holds back ice so water pours smoothly without cubes splashing into the glass.

Should I choose glass or plastic for a patio?

Most operators use polycarbonate or SAN plastic outdoors and around pools because it resists breakage and is lighter to carry.
