16 products

Order racks keep tickets visible and in sequence between the front of house and the line. This collection covers slide check racks, wall-mounted order rails and check spindles for restaurant kitchens, expo stations, bars, cafés and quick-service counters.

Brands include San Jamar, Browne, H.A. Sparke, TableCraft, Vollrath and Rabco. See the rest of the range on the Menu Boards, Signs & Order Racks page.

Types of order racks

  • Slide check racks – aluminum rails with sliding balls or rollers that grip tickets; San Jamar racks run from 12" to 60" long.
  • Check rails – Browne aluminum rails in 24", 36" and 48" lengths that hold tickets in a channel along the pass.
  • Wall-mounted order holders – longer rails, such as the H.A. Sparke 36" slide rack, for mounting above a line or expo window.
  • Check spindles – 6" spikes from TableCraft, Rabco and Vollrath for filing completed tickets at the bar or register.
  • Magnetic hooks – swivel hooks for hanging tickets, tools or small signs on steel surfaces.

What to consider when choosing order racks

  • Length – size the rack to your peak ticket count; a busy line may need 36"–60" while a café pass can manage with 12"–24".
  • Grip style – slide racks hold tickets individually so cooks can move them along; channel rails are simpler but tickets can slip.
  • Mounting location – mount where both servers and cooks can see tickets without reaching over hot equipment.
  • Material – aluminum resists rust in humid kitchens and is light to mount.
  • Completed-ticket handling – a spindle at the pass or bar keeps finished tickets in one place for end-of-night reconciliation.

FAQ

What is the difference between a slide rack and a check rail?

A slide rack uses moving balls or rollers to grip each ticket so it can be slid along the rail. A check rail is a simple channel that tickets tuck into.

How long should my order rack be?

Count how many tickets are open at your busiest moment and allow 2"–3" per ticket. Many lines use 36" or longer.

Do I still need an order rack with a kitchen display system?

Many kitchens keep one as a backup for printer tickets, catering orders and system outages.
