Chafers hold hot food on buffets and at catered events, and set the look of the line. Choose the style, the heat source and the fuel to suit the event.

This collection includes chafers, chafing fuel, fuel holders, an electric chafer heater, induction chafer pans, collapsible frames and lighters. It is part of Buffet & Banquet Service.

Types of chafers

  • Rectangular chafers: For full-size food pans, with lift-off, roll-top or retractable covers.
  • Round chafers: For sauces, sides and smaller dishes.
  • Soup station chafers: For self-serve soup.
  • Collapsible chafer kits and frames: For off-site and outdoor events, including a wind-resistant frame.
  • Electric and induction: A 120V electric chafer heater and induction chafer food pans with glass covers for flame-free service.

Fuel and accessories

  • Gel fuel: The gel fuels we carry are rated at about 2 to 2.5 hours per can.
  • Wick fuel: The wick fuels we carry are rated at about 4 to 6 hours or more.
  • Holders and lighters: Fuel holders with covers and long-reach and refillable lighters.
  • Planning: Bring enough fuel for the full service, plus spares, and load food that is already hot.

Chafer FAQs

Roll-top or lift-off cover?

Roll-top and retractable covers open with one hand and stay attached, which suits self-serve buffets. Lift-off covers cost less and suit staffed lines.

Fuel, electric or induction?

Fuel works anywhere and suits off-site events. Electric heaters and induction need power but avoid open flame, which some venues require.

How long does chafing fuel last?

The gel fuels we carry are rated at about 2 to 2.5 hours per can, and the wick fuels at about 4 to 6 hours or more.
