Learn About Professional Rolling Pins
Professional rolling pins have many names and styles- roller pin, baker’s pin, straight or French pins. Regardless of the name, they are a baker's best friend. Rolling pins can be used to roll out pie dough, pastry dough, pizza dough, cookie dough and fondant.
Rolling pins can include handles for a comfortable and secure grip. French rolling pins have no handle but have tapered ends. This allows fluid and quick motions while rolling. You can get rolling pins in a classic hardwood or durable aluminum.
A silicone mat or pastry cloth can be placed on the counter to provide a non-stick surface to roll out dough. Although, if dough does stick to counters, you can use a dough scraper to easily scrape it off surfaces. Once dough is rolled out, use a pastry cutter to easily slice it. You can choose between a plain edge and fluted edge to achieve the desired look. You can also use a cookie cutter.
